The following are definitions of some key words used to describe mental health activities and descriptions of several important mental health agencies. Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency (AACMHA): AACMHA is responsible for coordinating mental health services for country residents who are on Medicaid, have a low income or are uninsured and meet certain criteria. Case Manager: A mental health professional who will work with you to decide what kind of help you need and to make sure you get it. Day Programs: Centers that provide rehabilitation treatment services for people with mental health problems. Grievance: A grievance is a complaint related to your care. For example, if you disagree with your provider about the type of care you are receiving or if you have a disagreement with Maryland Health Partners related to payment for services. APS/MAPS-MD: A company hired by the state to manage payment of claims for certain public mental health services. Medicaid: State-funded health insurance for low-income people who meet specific criteria. Medication Management. Mental Hygiene Administration: State agency that oversees mental health services for people on Medicaid and those that are uninsured and/or meet certain low-income criteria. Mentoring. Outpatient Therapy: Mental health services that are provided outside of a hospital or residential treatment center. These services are usually provided in your home, at a provider's office or through a day program. Provider: A doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, nurse, therapist other licensed health professional or agency that provides mental health care. Residential Rehabilitation Programs: Programs that provide housing and intensive treatment for people with serious mental health concerns. Respite Services: Short-term services designed to provide relief
for caregivers. Vocational Services: Programs designed to help people with mental health problems obtain and keep jobs.
